Hopes and Dreams no. 1 - Twice Upon A Time

Only two photographs of instances of me in hanbok exist. One is of me as a baby in a traditional child's hanbok for girls and is locked away in a photo album in New Hampshire. This is the other, from last year's visit to bring Walls Within to the Omma Poom Park Peace Museum. A portrait taken at Gyeongbokgung in Seoul the city of my birth, which I then edited on my phone in London. It is one in a series of portraits and self-portraits from that trip.

Three servings from a long weekend getaway to a small coastal town in Kent celebrating life. Some things are captured in perfect stillness but they shouldn't be. The starlings did not just fly, they seemed to vibrate. The masts of beached sailboats did not stand still in the view of my approach as I walked near and beside them. The sea waves did not freeze and stop disobeying the the tidal pull of the moon. My photographic journey continues in exploring mood, memories and now motion with post-production editing.

Hopes and Dreams no. 2 - Relinquished and Abandoned

A KAD friend and I decided to go to Korea last year and nothing could have prepared us for what we experienced and learned about ourselves while there. I learned that my birth father had relinquished me to an adoption agency and then emigrated out of the country not long after doing so. She discovered that the name of the bus stop she had been brought to and told to wait at until someone came for her by her father was actually the name of a bus station. Also, her birth date was fabricated. Different circumstances, same result - adopted by Americans.
